So last week started off with MB at an event in Sausalito. The event closed down early on the 2nd day because the wind was turning the tents into kites ...
Anyway, I got home and checked email and found messages from two people interested in working on sponsorship opportunities and/or product placement, and someone else who was volunteering to give MB some real actual professional PR assistance.
Woo hoo!
I sent the PR person a couple letters that I'd been sending out to alert folks to MB's existence and the service we provide and to event organizers asking to participate in their events. Her immediate feedback was that neither letter asked for what I wanted. The did not ask for assistance with promoting MB or sponsorships or donations or free space to set up at events.
Based just on that feedback - that I wasn't asking for what I wanted - I wrote a new email for event organizers. I had a few events I was about to contact, and so I sent the email out to them. This is what the new email said:
My name is Nonie Veccia, I am the president of Mom's Breastaurant, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit service organization. Mom's Breastaurant's purpose is to help event organizers care for the youngest attendees to their events - infants and toddlers. MB puts up a booth that contains a fully stocked diaper changing station, and comfortable chairs in a calm environment for mothers to sit and relax and feed their children. These services are offered to the public at no charge. Nor is there a charge to the event organizers. All that is required for MB to participate in an event and provide this service is a 10 x 10 space in which to set up.
Because the XYZ fair is clearly a family event it seems that a service such as the one Mom's Breastaurant provides would be a good fit. I would like to discuss with you the possibility of setting up a booth at the festival this year.
I am attaching an article from the Jan/Feb issue of Mothering Magazine to give more information and history about MB. Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.It doesn't beg for space or say that I need them to help ME, it says that this will help their event and all they need is to provide the space and we'll be happy to set up.
I sent it out to three events - the first one I sent out at 9:57 AM. I had a response from that event at 11:22 AM saying 'we'd be thrilled to have you - please fill out the non-profit application and under the cost please write FREE.'

I guess that wording worked

I've yet to hear back from the other 2 events, but still, I'm thrilled!
Oh, and I also had an email from someone inviting MB to come participate in a Jewish community expo in Irvine CA on 6/1. The AP mom's group in that community is sponsoring the booth (ie paying any fees that are not comped by the event organizers) AND looking into giving me gas money to get there AND the woman who contacted me has a spare room that we can stay in to avoid a motel room and bill.
And then I was at the Meet BABI event on Saturday, at which I ended the show selling 18 necklaces in just the last hour after a day of nothing. WOW.
So it was a good week for MB. More like this would be SWELL
